Restaurant Iberian Rooster is named in a USA Today article as a restaurant that makes St. Petersburg one of the "Five Underrated Food Cities on the East Coast." This is my wife and I’s third visit together to Iberian Rooster, bringing family along with us. We had dined for lunch at the Hofbräuhaus down the street, and wanted to enjoy a few cocktails. My wife recommended the Iberian Rooster as the previous times we had enjoyed some excellent craft cocktails.

With us were my father and stepmother, who lived in Brandon which is forty minute drive from St. Petersburg, and my wife's sister and brother-in-law, who were visiting from Oregon. Between the group we enjoyed the following cocktails. My stepmother had the Moscow Mule which is a cocktail made with vodka, spicy ginger beer, and lime juice, garnished with a slice or wedge of lime. It is a type of buck and therefore sometimes known as a vodka buck. The Moscow mule is popularly served in a copper mug.
I tried a new cocktail called the Frenchman on 5th which was mixed with Lot 40 Canadian rye, Solerno Liqueur, Osborne fino Sherry, Angostura, star anise, and finished with a splash of atomized peat monster blended scotch whisky. This was a very tasty cocktail. I have been impressed with every cocktail I have had in the many visits, plus the wine list cannot be forgotten either.
My wife and sister-in-law had the Expresso Joey Kick cocktail with Absolut Elyx vodka, cocoa powder, kahlua, and black crow espresso, from the Black Crow Coffee Company in St Petersburg. I had a sip of this drink on our last visit when my wife ordered it, and it is like most other coffee martini’s with an extra kick of the local made coffee as the name states.
Finally, my brother-in-law who stayed to a non-alcoholic drink ordered an eight-layer Spanish-style cake with cream frosting, that I took one bight of for the wild sugar rush, like other desserts we have had here in the past. My brother-in-law was also impressed with the Sub-Central Speakeasy downstairs which we had not been to yet, but look forward to visiting one day. As we enjoyed out drinks we talked about how good the Iberian Rooster was and some of the items we have eaten on previous trips.

Final notes, review basics, observations and more pictures:
Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:
Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give Iberian a 5 out of 5 stars, meaning that they not only exceeded my expectations and were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants, but they surpassed outstanding and were extraordinary. The first two review scores were also 5 of 5 stars, so they have maintained there outstanding levels of service from my last visits.
