Boulevard Burgers & Tap House Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Boulevard Burgers, located on St Pete Beaches Gulf Boulevard is jazzy style restaurant known for its upscale burgers, sandwiches, and seafood selections. This was my wife and I’s second visit, this time joined by her sister and brother-in-law. They were just as busy as the last time we visited, though this time they appeared to have less staff, and it took longer to be served. My brother-in-law and I had a few local ales beginning with the Reef Donkey APA from the Tampa Bay Brewing Company. A dry-hopped American pale ale, with a lemon/lime aroma with citrus and slight tropical fruit flavor with an ABV of 5.5%. The second beer selection was from the Coppertail Brewing Company called the Freedive IPA with a medium palate and a lingering bitterness, filled with clean malts, heavy citrus, and pine plus a 5.90% ABV. The third local selection was from the Big Storm Brewing Company called the Tropic Pressure, a Florida ale steeped with hibiscus flowers for just the right amount of natural sweetness and a hint of cinnamon. Brewed with pale wheat and honey malt, with ABV: 4.4% and an IBU count of 17.

We started with their smoked fish spread of Mahi Mahi served on a bed of lettuce, with celery, jalapeños, and crackers. My wife and I had this on our last visit and we both enjoy the different creations of fish spread which you can find at many restaurants around Central Florida. I created a 6-level chart to help rate the dips for these reviews as seen below.

Fish Spread Rating Chart:

THE BEST - Top notch quality, excellent flavor profiles, memorable presentation, rare ingredients, organic, non-GMO, sustainable, local, immense-colossal quality of fish, and extravagant smoke flavors
DAMN GOOD - Fantastic smoke, exceptional quality, eclectic flavor, nice display, dedicated local sourcing, beautiful quality fish, possibly sustainable, non-GMO
GOOD - delicate, Enhanced ingredients, nice flavor, fresh taste, great smoke, common arrangements, in state local, superior quality fish
BETTER - Nice ingredients, higher-desirable quality, okay flavor and taste, good smoke content, maybe from in-state sources, but possibly a GMO
OKAY - Nothing amazing, a regular spread, fair quality, highly probable GMO product, might be from the state, most likely not, fabricated or mainstream smoke products
BAD - Taste old, horrible seasoning, cheap smoke, manufactured, heavy GMO product, not local, bad smell

After tasting this smoked fish spread which normally is made with grouper or other local Gulf fish, it was nice to see a Mahi Mahi style and would rate their dip at the fourth level or “Good.” This was the same rating as our first visit as well. The second starter which we also enjoyed from the first visit was the buffalo chicken mac and cheese which is house-made and mixed with a hand-breaded buffalo fried chicken, cut up and mixed to perfection with extra buffalo sauce as a topping.

My wife and sister-in-law shared the fish tacos entree with blackened grouper, shredded white cabbage, sliced avocado, diced tomato, and chipotle ranch tucked into flour tortillas. My brother-in-law had a Rueben sandwich served on marbled rye bread with corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing, served with onion rings.

On our first visit, I had tried the sunny side up burger which I had first tried when I visited France in 2010, and it was really good. At the time it was recommended that I try the Rock 100.5 FM Jesse Kage Burger. Though I went with the sunny side up instead, the Jesse Kage burger was recommended yet again. It is the restaurants signature patty topped with a deep-fried and crispy chicken tenderloin, two strips of bacon, aged cheddar, and honey mustard. The Burger was extremely good, and I would give it a nice accolade to say for you to try it when you visit.

Dessert:
For dessert, we tried their key lime pie, and unlike other menu items that are proudly advertised as house-made or prepared from scratch, this dessert just had the labeled name and tasted like your typical Sysco truck delivered mass-produced dessert. It tasted good but missed that home touch. They would score a home run if they made it from scratch like Sunset Grill in Clearwater does.

Final notes, review basics, observations and more pictures:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give Boulevard Burgers a 1 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were only an average dining experience like most restaurants. The first review score was 2 of 5 stars and have decreased mainly in the customer service rating point sections.
