A convention is a gathering or grouping of people for a specific purpose to discuss and trade. A festival is an event celebrated by a community and centering on some characteristic aspect of that community. Next, to religion and folklore, a significant origin is agricultural.

Afternoon Tea:
Afternoon Tea is a tea-related ritual, introduced in Britain in the early 1840s. It evolved as a mini meal to stem the hunger and anticipation of an evening meal at 8pm. It is a meal composed of sandwiches (usually cut delicately into 'fingers'), scones with clotted cream and jam, sweet pastries and cakes. Afternoon Tea was initially developed as a private social event at the top echelons of society’s elite. It was only when Queen Victoria engaged in the Afternoon Tea ritual that it became a formal occasion on a larger scale, known as 'tea receptions,’ and became the Afternoon Tea as it is known today.

Airport Food: The first non-military airport in the world opened in 1909 at College Park Airport in Maryland, by Wilbur Wright, and is generally agreed to be the world's oldest continually operating airfield. As a luxury, restaurants were added to airport terminals to add to the overall experience of travel which at the time cost four times the current prices, and was reserved for the wealthy or people on business. Today it is commonplace to see food courts, fast and fine dining restaurants at most airports around the world. Mexican Cuisine:
Or a Mexican blend with a mix of something/anything else
Mexican cuisine is primarily a fusion of indigenous Mesoamerican cooking with European, especially Spanish, with elements added after their conquest of the Aztec Empire in the sixteenth century. The staples are native foods, such as corn, beans, avocados, tomatoes, and chili peppers, expanded greatly after the European occupation which introduced rice, cheese, and domesticated animals. African and Asian influences were also introduced into the mixture during this era as a result of African slavery in New Spain and the Manila-Acapulco Galleons. Over the centuries, regional cuisines based on local customs reverted back to ancient ways while incorporating the new European foods, and areas such as those in Oaxaca, Veracruz, and the Yucatán Peninsula took on a new identity which resulted in traditional Mexican cuisine being inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010. Not all Mexican is created equal, as a good portion of American Mexican restaurants is a blend of Tex-Mex or “Gringo” Mexican with less flavor and spice.

Sushi Restaurants:
(restaurants that may not be Japanese, but still serve sushi)
Sushi (すし, 寿司, 鮨) is the Japanese preparation and serving of specially prepared vinegary rice (鮨飯 sushi-meshi) combined with varied ingredients (ネタ neta) such as seafood (often uncooked), vegetables, and occasionally tropical fruits. Styles of sushi and its presentation vary widely, but the key ingredient in all cases is the sushi rice, also referred to as shari (しゃり), or sumeshi. A sushi restaurant specializes in the service of this dish, or in this section will be a restaurant that highlights sushi on its menu.

Tuscan Cuisine:
Famous for its local produce and meat, for its simplicity and seasonal foods, Tuscan food is based on the Italian idea of ‘Cucina Povera’ or “poor cooking.” A concept that started very literally, it’s about simple meals that are inexpensive and could easily be made in large amounts. Today it remains largely the same — but by choice instead of the economy. Tuscan cooking doesn’t use complicated seasonings or elaborate creations because they’re not needed. Instead, it’s made using fresh, high-quality ingredients that bring out the natural flavors in each dish.
