Beaches Restaurant and Bar Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

The Beaches Restaurant and Bar is located just before security at the PDX International airport so whether you are coming or going or if you aren't traveling, you can swing by for food or drinks anytime. My wife and I were flying out after spending a few days along the Willamette River visiting family. We live in Florida and are only a few miles from the most beautiful beaches in the United States, so being hungry and wanting to enjoy some food before the long flight, seeing the name beaches grab our interest. The atmosphere is pleasant with a Hawaiian beach theme to it with a lot of catchy displays including a Volkswagen bug, and fire pit tables.

We both enjoyed several glasses of 2015 Eola Hills Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, located less than an hours drive south of the airport. The wine was very refreshing and according to the winemakers tasting notes is a mouth-filling elegant tannin, solely derived from the grapes themselves. Refined and smooth, the high percentage component of Eola-Amity Hills fruit out of Oregon’s Willamette Valley gives this wine an earthy and dark fruit character that’s intense, but not heavy on the palate. It was recently awarded 88 Points by Wine Enthusiast in a 2017 tasting.

Menu:
    • Appetizers
    • Salads and Soups
    • Pizza
    • Burgers, Sandwiches, and More
    • Other Good Stuff
    • Pasta and Bowls
    • Desserts
The menu is not like a typical beach restaurant menu, even though the atmosphere and chotskies say differently. Being on the eastern side of Portland, they are also well over an hour drive from the nearest Pacific Coast beach. Under starters my wife and I shared the Shameless Dog, a tempura battered polish dog that is first wrapped in bacon, deep fried, and topped with spicy mustard and served with a house-made relish. A very good starter, super fattening, but will please the inner fat man of anyone that tries it.

The awesome shameless
Other choices from the starters menu included a lobster and red crab dip with artichoke and ricotta, a Korean teriyaki tidbit of beef tenders with button mushrooms and a roasted chicken taquitos to name a few. The salad, pizza, and sandwich menu are very typical of most restaurants with nothing really exciting to point out except their blackened salmon burger with a lemon dill aioli that looked very interesting.

Under the pasta and bowls section, we also shared a 5 Cheese Mac and cheese dish made with mozzarella, provolone, cheddar, parmesan, and bleu cheese crumbles on top with a garlic crouton crumble garnish. It was a good mac and cheese but a little drier than I like to have a mac and cheese.

Dessert:
We did not have dessert as it was time to board our flight. The webpage did not list a dessert menu, and an inquiry request went unanswered to get this and other information needed to complete this review in greater detail.

Final notes, review basics, observations and more pictures:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give Beaches Restaurant a 2 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants.
