When was the last time you went bowling? For me, it had been at least 15 years maybe more. No matter if you are an expert and in a league or if you are worst bowler on earth, it is a fun time to hang around with friends and drink a few beers. As a kid, I really enjoyed going to the bowling alley and playing. I recall when I lived in Anaheim, California for my birthday my father threw me a party for my friends and I at the local bowling alley. One thing as I remember that bowling alleys were not known for was good food. Surprisingly on this trip to 10 Pin Lanes in St. Petersburg, the food was very good. It was classic style American cuisine with all the favorites that you would expect, except stepped up a few notches.

My wife and I joined two other friends, with my wife using the bowling ball she had been given as a kid by her father, and it still fit her perfectly. We enjoyed the full bar and a bar tender who did not skimp out the portions of liquor for them. We all gave ourselves different names on the computer scorecard like “The Dude,” Walter, and Maude. Our first cocktail round was even the classic Caucasian. Do have no idea what I’m even talking about? The names are characters from the cult classic movie The Big Lebowski, and the drink is another name for a White Russian cocktail.

After enjoying a few real games, we decided to have some fun with the bowling and have each round be a different style of bowling or crazy bowling. This included walking backward, turning and releasing the ball, or doing the granny walk throw, plus others that we just came up with the names for. Our scores though awful nearly match our regular games. A few of the American food classics we enjoyed included upscale spicy nachos and a few woodfired pizzas. Honestly, we would go back just for the enjoyment of the fast yet upscale bowling alley food.

Dessert:
Desserts were all the cocktails we had, which may have had something to do with our low scores in all the games.
