O'Maddy's Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Executive Chef:
Chef Wade

The city of Gulfport is a hidden gem tucked away between the tourism and beach life of St. Pete Beach, and the hustle of the big city of St. Petersburg. It is a little town straight out of the 1960s with little mom and pop shops, the Gulfport Tuesday Market, an events center called Gulfport Casino Ballroom, and many restaurants and bars. One such bar is O’Maddy’s Bar & Grille near to the popular William's Pier with beautiful views of Boca Ciega Bay, nestled next to Gulfport's Veteran's Park. This was my wife and I’s second visit, with my folks tagging along for a nice lunch and walk around the town.

Menu:
    • Appetizers
    • Salads
    • Sandwiches
    • Pasta
    • Steak and Pork
    • Seafood
    • Side Items
    • Chicken

On the previous two visits, we had the jalapeño macaroni and cheese, Dr. Randy Shuck's Hangover Burger, and the Dr. Pepper baby back ribs. On the second visit, our group had the Jamal's Firecracker Burger, the Beccy Burger, parmesan french fries and the penne macaroni and cheese.

On this third visit, my wife, daughter, and parents were part of the group, managing to catch the last open table on their very long and sprawling patio, where my only complaint would be that they have packed the tables in too tight. Sometimes it is hard to maneuver around without slamming into a chair from another table, then needing to apologize to that person. My dad and enjoyed some Yuengling beers while my wife had one of her favorites go-to drinks, a tequila with Cuervo Silver, then an upgrade for drink number two to 1800, both with grapefruit juice.

Going around the table my stepmother had the Adam’s awesome grilled chicken sandwich (pictured at the bottom of this article) served on a brioche bun, which you can also get blackened, or fried, and my wife once again had Jamal's firecracker burger with jalapeno pesto, cream cheese, and chipotle mayo. With the burger, she had a side of the jalapeno macaroni and cheese which we ordered on the previous visits as well.

My dad has been a big fan of Reuben Sandwiches since before I can remember. Most lunches places we visit he will try one. He sets a standard to his Reuben, trying to compare and match it to the best one that he had ever had from all of his world travels, and that was inside a hotel restaurant in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The O’maddy’s version was called The Scotty with grilled pastrami, Swiss cheese, and coleslaw instead of sauerkraut piled high. Served with a homemade “3000 island dressing” - whatever that is, served on marbled rye.

My daughter had the daily special, a lobster pizza with mozzarella cheese, parsley, and shaved parmesan. The amount of lobster on the pizza was very generous given the lower price of the dish, and though it was a Tuesday, so maybe that lobster was delivered the previous week, and they were trying to get rid of it before it went bad. That is of course just a guess, but a rule of thumb is to never eat the fish special on Sunday evening or anytime on Monday because the price is low and special for a reason.

That being said, what stupid thing did I decide to do? I ordered Ashley’s lobster BLT. I must have been hungover and lost track of the date. This entree is a lobster salad with chunks of Maine lobster served in your choice of a wrap or onto a Brioche Bun with applewood smoked bacon, crisp leaf lettuce, and tomato. Like the pizza, it was a very generous amount of lobster, so much so that I could not even finish the wrap, taking half of it home.

Dessert:
By the time we had eaten those large sandwiches, none of us had room for dessert, and we took several items home with us as well. So maybe next time we will try some dessert.

Final notes, review basics, observations and more pictures:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give O’Maddy’s a 2 out of 5 stars, meaning that they not only exceeded my expectations and were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants, but they surpassed outstanding and were extraordinary. The first review score was 2 of 5, and the second review was a 1 of 5, so they have improved from my last visit to be back at the original rating.
