My wife and I are very big fans of little places, with a good old American feel, where there are no big corporations, and Gulfport, Florida fits the bill. American flags fly on posts and private business doors, varieties of shops, bars, and restaurants. One such bar is O’Maddy’s Bar and Grill near to the popular William's Pier with beautiful views of Boca Ciega Bay, nestled next to Gulfport's Veteran's Park, where my wife and I recently had a little “pineapple” date. Walk down one block and you in the historic Gulfport downtown area.
My wife new about O’Maddy’s, but I had never heard of it until two weeks before we went there. A friend I work with used to live in Gulfport before moving and we talked about the city, bars, and the Gulfport Tuesday Market. He mentioned that when we go back to Gulfport, we had to stop at O’Maddy’s. It is a good size bar and grill, where the inside dining is open to the outside, and a separate patio for the full outside experience. When we went at the end of June it was later in the evening after doing a dancing lesson at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. We sat at the bar inside, but still, it was muggy and hot. We just wanted to get a quick bite and share some food, then come back later for a full meal. Their menu was broken down by:
Menu:
• Appetizers
• Salads
• Sandwiches
• Pasta
• Steak and Pork
• Seafood
• Side Items
• Chicken
• Vegetarian
• Desserts
They have a huge appetizer list with twenty-two separate items from a build your own pizza ($10), tuna sashimi ($11), smoked fish spread ($9), and Collin’s Irish chips ($5) to name a few. Seven Salad selections from a calamari ($9), to a stir-fry chicken ($11), or a black and blue ($12) to name a few. Under the beef and pork section we shared the Pete & Dean's Dr. Pepper Braised Baby Back Ribs ($17) Full rack of ribs, braised in root beer and Dr. Pepper until tender then seasoned. Grilled and glazed with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, served with your choice of side.
My wife had a few side dishes of jalapeño macaroni and cheese and some green beans. She also enjoyed a glass of a New Zealand Sauvignon blanc from Oyster Bay vineyards.

Final notes, review basics, observations and more pictures:
Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:
Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give O’Maddy’s a 2 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants.
