Take a look at FLIP Burger Boutique and compare it your typical run of the mill burger joint anywhere in the world, then leave all your notions behind about what you will expect, because this place will be a complete FLIP to what you expect. In Midtown Atlanta, the FLIP Burger Boutique opened its doors in 2008, and since that time has an additional three locations in Buckhead, and two out of state in Birmingham, Alabama and Nashville, Tennessee. Prepare yourself for a very unique culinary experience where the chefs are creating a modern, and imaginative dining experience that gives all your senses a night out. This is not Burger King, Five Guys, or other classier style burger joint, this is a flipping great place. Accolades include being one of the top 10 burger restaurants in the US by Fox News and Bon Appetite Magazine, Top 5 burgers in Atlanta by Haute Living, best French fries by Travel + Leisure, and best shakes by USA Today.

It all starts with the food. Their signature black Angus blend beef burgers are handmade and carefully sourced. Careful doesn’t always mean sustainable or organic, however, it is a step of improvement better than many burger places out there. Their pork is locally farmed and they do source sustainable seafood. The condiments and sauces are made in-house daily, and outside of their wonderful burger selections is there innovative N2 milkshakes. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, but besides those awesome milkshakes, there are many soda and tea selections. FLIP has been credited for increasing competition among hamburger restaurants in Atlanta.
The menu includes nineteen different hamburger variations. Side orders include vodka-battered onion rings, poutine, french fries, fried BBQ pickles, tuna crisps, sweet potato tater tots, potato salad, and pan-roasted Brussels sprouts. The N2 specialty milkshake selections include the Krispy Kreme milkshake in which doughnuts comprise half the drink, a Nutella, cap’n crunch, turtle, vanilla, and a strawberry shortcake. Liquid nitrogen is used to prepare them.

The atmosphere is one of the most unique in a restaurant I have ever seen. The booths along either side of the left and right, plus back walls of the restaurant are not only solid white and very comfortable, but they are also flipped. An exact duplicate of the white booths and the table are copied and flipped upside down, attached to the ceiling. The wall next to the booths have modern art deco style paintings with white lines, and other psychedelic style colors and shapes. The center portion of the restaurant and front near the floor to ceiling windows are either individual four seater tables or longer family style tables.
Of the burgers on the menu to which some do change up by season, my personal favorites include the raw tuna tartare with Asian pear, pine nuts, soy dressing, wasabi mayo, compressed veggies, mango sphere, fried egg, and an avocado puree. Also the chorizo-spiced pork, with hashbrowns, fried egg, manchego, Spanish paprika, almond romesco ketchup, and smoked mayo.

The ‘lam burger’ is filled with ground lamb from Border Springs farms, with feta cheese, marinated vegetables, arugula rocket lettuce, pickled red onions, tzatziki, and garam masala spice. Two more wonderful selections include the southern burger with a chicken fried beef patty, pimento cheese, b&b pickles, and coca cola ketchup, also the Oaxaca burger with Angus beef, avocado, cilantro-lime mayo, queso fresco, and pico de gallo.

Dessert:
They do offer desserts, but who needs them when you just had a dessert for your entree wether you ate it or drank it. Of all the times I have been, I have never had the dessert menu, and it is not listed on their website.

Final notes, review basics, observations and more pictures:
Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor.
