Stone Soup Cafe Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Stone Soup Cafe is a cozy American cafe serving house-made soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches to along with a large craft beer selection and cocktails since 1992. The café is smaller in size with a few tables and bar, with a nice outside dining area in a causeway through the center of the building between two businesses. This causeway creates a nice breeze without the sun shining in, so it is perfect on a hot summer day. They have ten beers on draft plus special rotations and a beer flight to also choose from. For bottled beers, they have over 50 available.

My wife started with a Fleur de Prairie 2018 Côtes de Provence Rosé from Deutsch Family Wines. It is a blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Syrah, and 10% other varietals such as Mourvedre, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rolle. Crafted in the traditional Provençal style, according to the winemakers' notes Fleurs de Prairie is a pale salmon color, with delicate flavors of red fruit, black currant, and lemon. It's bright, refreshing acidity makes it a perfect companion with a meal or as an apéritif.

For my drink, I enjoyed a nice Bloody Mary, one of my favorite cocktails because It covers almost the entire range of human taste sensations starting with sweet, then salty, sour and umami or savory, but not bitter with a small burn of vodka. Speaking of vodka, the intense, spicy, tangy flavor of a Bloody Mary chemically overpowers the flavor of the vodka anyway, so according to flavor chemist Neil C. Da Costa, you don't waste your money buying a premium vodka that you won’t be able to fully taste or enjoy the aroma of.

The menu has 10 signature sandwiches that are served with your choice of one side. You can also substitute for a cup of soup with a $2.00 up-charge plus a bread choice of swirl, pumpernickel, wheat or gluten-free. For sides, you have the choice between chips, coleslaw, mixed fruit, cottage cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, yogurt, or half dill pickles.

My wife had the super cheese on swirl bread with layers of Swiss, provolone, cheddar, and parmesan, with some baby spinach, sprouts, sliced tomatoes, and honey mustard. My wife ordered it cold, but you can also have and sandwich hot pressed. In place of the side, my wife ordered the chicken and dumpling soup. The sandwich with packed with flavors from the cheese and sweetness of the dressing for a wonderful afternoon delight. The soup was very hearty and screamed comfort with wonderful chicken flavors, lite vegetables and a soft dough texture from the dumpling.

I had the Roast beef sandwich served hot on an onion roll, made with slow-braised top round roast beef, sprouts, honey horsey sauce, mushrooms, onion, and cheddar cheese. My side choice was a house-made potato salad. The lite horse spice flavors paired with the beef perfectly and was a harmony of flavors with the sharp cheese used plus the onions mixed in. The potato salad did lack a little spice and was bland but the potatoes were cooked perfectly without being hard or too mushy.

Final notes, review basics, observations, and more pictures:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambience, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give Stone Soup Cafe a 3 out of 5 stars, meaning that they exceeded my expectations and were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants.
