The Sandollar Kitchen and Bar inside the Sanibel Island Beach Resort is a boutique hotel on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, on Sanibel Island with an old Florida style charm. The palm trees plus white shelled sandy beaches with hammocks and a cocktail bar set the stage, it's a shame that the breakfast really didn’t deliver. The ambience was very pleasant, plate presentation and food quality were not at the highest marks, and service needed improvement as well. The resort advertises a diverse menu of both land and sea in a contemporary dining area with a continental breakfast buffet plus regular menu offered on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

My wife had the Croissanwich entree with fried egg and bacon served with a potato hash. The croissant was made at whatever industrial facility, frozen then delivered on the Sysco truck and reheated for the meal. It had zero qualities of a fresh croissant and was very generic.

I had the latitudes benedict with English muffin, ham, poached egg, and hollandaise. The sauce had an interesting texture with heavier lemon flavor then I would expect from the sauce, so it was hard to tell if it was made from scratch of pre-made.

Final notes, review basics, observations, and more pictures:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambience, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give Sandollar Kitchen and Bar a 1 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were an average dining experience like many other restaurants. Customer service and food quality drastically reduced the score from a higher star rating.
