Frog Pond Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

The Frog Pond is a small mom and pop business that serves massive portioned breakfast favorites in a relaxed space with frog knickknacks and has been rated as the best breakfast on the beach. They have many varieties of eggs Benedict's, omelets and waffles. Frog Pond has been a staple for more than 35 years on the edge of St. Pete Beach and North Redington Beach, and now a second location in St. Petersburg in 2017 with Mayor Rick Kriseman attending the grand opening ceremony.

My wife and I had driven past the Frog Pond more times than we could count, looking at the title and thinking to ourselves and out loud what kind of restaurant gives itself the name Frog Pond. Years prior when writing a review about a fine-dining French steakhouse restaurant chain that has a location in Miami I referenced how names of restaurants vary from one extreme to the other, from a “Frog Pond to Laurent Tourendal.” When we finally went in to eat after hearing many people give it accolades we were pleasantly surprised.

My wife ordered the Frog Pond quiche Lorraine dish with home-fries and assorted fruit from cantaloupe, grapes, and more. The crust was flaky and lite, with the eggs and spinach frittata being very firm. The home-fries were sliced very thin and pan-fried, though there may have been too many stacked into the pan and cooking at the same time as some were crispy with direct contact to the oil and heat at the bottom of the pan, and other potatoes that were light and a bit soggy from not getting enough heat and fry oil.

I went with a traditional eggs benedict with Canadian bacon, poached egg, and hollandaise served with a side grits. This benedict was one of over fifteen on the menu. The hollandaise was thick though creamy. I normally expect a little tartness from this sauce from the lemon juice but didn’t get it from the Frog Ponds recipe. It was not a bad thing, it just gave me a different texture than I was expecting. The eggs were poached perfectly with a runny yolk, and the English muffin was toasted just right.

Final notes, review basics, observations, and more pictures:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give The Frog Pond a 1 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were an average dining experience like most restaurants.
