Rostang French Brasserie at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai is now closed and has been replaced with the Bread Street Kitchen and Bar, however, Michael Rostang’s main restaurant in Paris Maison Rostang is still running strong. Dubai can be a difficult town to be successful in, even if you have restaurants in Paris, London, and New York that do well.
Michael Rostang was awarded his first Michelin star in 1979, followed by his second one year later. In 1987 he opened the first of three Bouchon Lyonnais Resturants (Le Bistrot d’à Coté Flaubert), followed by l’Asinthe, in association with Claude Bouillon, Dessirier and then in 2006 with Jarrasse, based upon L’Ecailler de Paris, created in 1932. The venture for Dubai with the French Brasserie was in 2008.
Rostang French Brasserie / Entrance |
Rostang served classic and traditional French dishes with a twist for Lunch and Dinner, to include themed dinner nights. The Service was impeccable, and the wine list is very impressive. I came to Rostang’s for Lunch and enjoyed a three-course meal that filled me up for the rest of the day.
I started with a lite tuna tartar with fresh cilantro which added a lot of flavor to the dish, garnished with fried chips and rings.

For the main course, I had a calamari and lobster risotto with sun-dried tomatoes plus green onion and parsley garnie.
Rostang French Brasserie / Seafood Risotto Entrée |
The starter and entree also went down wonderfully with a bottle of a Petit Chablis from their very extensive wine cellar.
Dessert:
Finally, I finished with a wonderful classic French Dessert, the Floating Island, which just melted in my mouth. The Floating Island (Oeufs a la Neige) is soft vanilla custard with floating clouds of poached meringue.

Final notes, review basics, and observations:
Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about. My ratings are by the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:
Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating I give Rostang a 2 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants.
