I first had the opportunity to taste the Bridesmaid Wines in 2011 through 2013 when I was part of the Napa Wine Company’s Cult Wine Central club, (now Ghost Block) where I received deliveries monthly to which Bridesmaid wines were occasionally included in the allocations. In 2013 when I visited Napa and the wine club, I learned more information about the wine, its owners, and gained a greater appreciation for this cult wine.
Bridesmaid Wines are an impressive Bordeaux-style blend of wines from the Napa Valley, designed for wine lovers and collectors. The wine is very bold, alluring, and perfectly balanced like a Meritage should be. The owner of Bridesmaid also owns Crocker and Starr, another cult wine that I first tried through the Napa Wine Club. My first experience with Bridesmaid wines was their 2007 proprietary red, a very nice wine, that over time has become a hit with 1050 cases produced in 2014, as I’m sure they will continue to grow.

Winemaker Notes:
Intense inky plum color with a fuchsia rim, berry compote, and graphite aromas precede the silky entry of violets, blackberry, and Marionberry all perfectly balanced with a savory and spicy finish.
|
Winemaker Notes:
The broad tannins and fresh spicy fruit flavors are great right now and will cellar well over the next 15 years.

*** NOTE TO THE READER ***
Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience to the best of the writer's knowledge, even if it includes metaphors the restaurant may not like to read about.

I refer to myself as an oenophile though, oenophilia is defined as “a disciplined devotion to wine, accompanying strict traditions of consumption and appreciation.” In a general sense, oenophilia also refers to the enjoyment of wine, often by a layman — which I am, and not qualified as a professional. I just enjoy drinking it, so my rating is based on enjoyment and the overall experience, not the science of an expert, and thus subjective, not objective. See the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ on how I arrived at the rating percentage below:

California cuisine is a style of cuisine marked by an interest in fusion cuisine (integrating disparate cooking styles and ingredients) and in the use of freshly prepared local ingredients. The food is typically prepared with strong attention to presentation. Foods low in saturated fats and high in fresh vegetables and fruits with lean meats and seafood from the California coast often define the style.
