First Watch Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Executive Chef:
Chef Shane Schaibly

The First Watch restaurant group now has 12 locations in the Tampa Bay area from Palm Harbor to Wesley Chapel, Brandon, Riverview, St Petersburg, Dunedin, and Largo. They continue with their time-honored concepts and core values to offer healthy breakfast and brunch selections from sustainable and organic sources. Also when possible, they offer locally sourced items as well. They also adhere to the policy that all products are from sources that are not GMO’s or meats that do not have antibiotic steroids in their system.

As the previous visit, we were offered a pot of their Sunrise Select Premium Blend® coffee while we looked over the menu. To my knowledge no new items were available, but based on our last list and the choices they had, it did not damper the total selection. My wife had the elevated egg sandwich which came with fresh over-easy cage-free fried egg, bacon, gruyere cheese, fresh smashed avocado, mayonnaise, and lemon dressed arugula on a brioche bun. The dish was served with fresh seasoned potatoes. The flavors of the gruyere and bacon were splendid, especially with the kick of acid from the lemon juice.

My selection was the skillet hash which came with two cage-free eggs which you can order any style you wish (I chose over-medium), which sit on top of some seasoned potatoes, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, diced zucchini, lightly sautéed shallots, red bell peppers, baby spinach, and melted mozzarella along with some herbed goat cheese. The dish also came with a side of whole grain artisan toast.

Both selections were very good, but they did not beat my wife's selection from our previous visit of the Chickichanga® from the filled with whipped eggs, spicy all-natural white-meat chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilies, onions, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese along with avocado rolled in a flour tortilla. My god that was good. One thing we did order again, which I believe to be the best highlight of their menu was the side of Millionaire bacon. The three strips are cooked down with natural maple syrup - no preservatives for a fantastically tasting pork side.

As last time they impressed, but their score was a little lower this time due to the customer service which was not as attentive as the previous visit. I would take the business into account, but the restaurant had fewer patrons than the previous time. I feel with more attentive service, and recommendations from the service staff like the last visit they will be back up to the 3-star level. For now there rating drops by a few points to the 2-star level.

Final notes, review basics, and observations:

Most reviews are subjective, depending on the writer; but they should also be responsible, and respectfully written, upholding the truth, and accurately conveying the experience. My ratings are the stars I award (from 0 to 5). The rating is calculated on a point accumulation of six separate factors with 70 questions based on individual experience. They include wine and other beverage selections, plate presentation, customer service, restaurant or café ambiance, food quality, and wow factor. To see more details of this rating list, read this article:

Overall from this experience, and the score factors outlined in the ‘about page’ section, based on my individual experience and rating, I give First Watch a 2 out of 5 stars, meaning that they were far above the average dining experience of most restaurants. The first review score was 3 of 5 stars, so they have slipped slightly due to customer service from my last visit.
